2002 Speaking/Events Highlights

March 10
The Channel Islands Vineyard Fellowship

Dan,
I just wanted to thank you again for speaking at our Sabbath Sunday Event. It was also nice to hear your inspirational message at Channel Island Vineyard Fellowship that evening. I will let Mark know too, but if you need any help with the camp I am more than willing to do what I can. I think what you are doing is wonderful and if I can help in your ministry in any way let me know. I have limited skill, but what I have God gave me to do his will. Thank you again, I hope you enjoyed your visit to Ventura.

The 4th Annual ARC of Ventura County Sabbath Sunday Celebration
Dan was asked to be the keynote speaker for this wonderful afternoon event. The ARC of Ventura County is a private, nonprofit organization founded in 1954 that provides educational, vocational and residential services for people with developmental disabilities. Last year (March 11, 2001) Dan came from Santa Cruz and spoke from his power wheelchair, with his halo on his head, for the 3rd Annual ARC event . . . what an incredible change from last year. This year's Celebration attracted many local dignitaries, clients and supporters of ARC. They were emotionally moved and charged with Dan's message as several shared their thoughts of praise and admiration with Dan after the event.

Dan also received an ARC award. The award honored Dan for his contributions to the educating and encouragement to those with disabilities.

Note: Last years event, the 3rd Annual ARC Sabbath Sunday Celebration, was Dan's first public speaking opportunity.

Dear Dan,
Thank you for your inspiring and uplifting talk yesterday at ARC. Your attitude towards life definitely shows how important maintaining a positive attitude is regardless of trials and tribulations. Yes, "Life goes on..." You have definitely found your 'purpose to inspire others'. I can relate. In fact, I like the words of Helen Keller. She said, "I am thankful for my handicaps. For through them, I have found myself, my God and my work. I don't let speech and visual challenges stop me." For more "Quotes" and more about me, look at www.callmecapable.com.

Dan spoke at the 7th Annual PLNU "Professionals in the Making" Executive Breakfast at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in San Diego, CA. After Dan's timely message, Julie McEliece, the director of the PLNU Fermanian Business Center, came up immediately to make a special presentation. She carried with her a sculpture created of bronze (and very heavy). It is called The "Hand of God". The award depicts the hand of God giving the seed of knowledge to man. Julie then presented to the sculpture to Dan. This is the highest award PLNU gives to business people who have impacted individuals in the business community. Only three other recipients have been honored!
