I met with the neuro surgeon yesterday and was told that my 6th vertebrae is impinging
against my spinal cord. (see picture below). This was good and bad news as the
impingement could (probably) be the cause of my left side not working correctly.
The downside is that I will be going into surgery within the next two weeks. The
doc said that any time you work around the spinal cord, there is inherent risk. So,
your prayers are welcomed.
While at the hospital, I went back to where I did my initial physical therapy. You
know what? The room was completely full of patients and I could see myself in each
one of them. One trying to move his leg, another attempting to lift his hand. It was
tough to see. I wanted so bad to walk up to them & say "Keep working and you will walk".
That's not the case. Hard work is not the answer. If it were, don't you think every
paralyzed person would work hard? The answer is what every doctor has said to me when
asked "Why am I able to walk?"...they look at me and say "There is no medical
explanation...you had a higher power on your side". You bet I did and still do.
Thank you to all of you that have lifted me and my family up. You have a special place
in our hearts.
Dan
