Letter from Dan:

Eight weeks ago I listened as the doctor told Candi that I would probably never feel anything below my neck again and the first 24 hours after breaking my neck would be touch and go. I’m glad the doctor was wrong and here are many of the positive things that have come out of this situation:

  1. Made many new friends with nurses and doctors.

  2. I met several SCI (Spinal Cord Injury) patients that will change my life forever and I’m sure they will change many lives that they will touch.

  3. I’ve sat with a quadriplegic in my home and listened to him tell me how great his life is and how he is positively affecting kids lives through his tragedy of 20 years ago.

  4. I’ve sat with a major league sports athlete and shared Christ with him and we both have made a strong commitment to be better dads.

  5. I’ve discovered that I have a father-in-law that loves me unconditionally. He has been a stronghold for me and gives in a way I will never be able to truly comprehend.

  6. I’ve seen relationships restored in many areas that I didn’t know could be restored.

  7. I’ve had a friend in one of my darkest hours kiss tears from my eyes.

  8. An important relationship from the past has been restored and I’m glad God decided to keep me around to see it.

  9. I’ve received multiple e-mails from this website that have stated that people are either praying for the first time or praying again. Additionally, many have shared with me that they are doing reality checks and reprioritizing things in their lives.

  10. I have found that taking time to inhale the biggest breath possible is a great thing.

  11. I’ve learned that the only thing to fear is fear itself.

  12. and finally…no matter what the circumstance, we always have many things to be thankful for. I can’t tell you how happy I am to be alive and able to share these words with you. I never thought a broken neck could fix so many broken things in life. I thank all of you for your continued prayers and demonstrated love.
