Dear Family and Friends,

Sometimes life has a way of changing directions radically—Saturday afternoon, December 16, Dan was riding his bike in the mountains when he went over a jump and landed on the ground, head first. He was taken by Life Flight to the top spinal surgery center on the west coast. Within 45 minutes from the time of the accident, he was at the hospital.

Saturday night the doctors grafted in bone, put some plates in his neck and fused it together. His spinal cord was traumatized but not severed however at this time he is paralyzed from the neck down. The doctors said the surgery went well and the prognosis at that time was a 1 in 25 chance that he will walk again. We saw Dan Sunday evening and he was typical Dan; spirits high and amazing all that came to see him.

Our first bit of exciting news came Sunday evening--as I sat here writing this note, my mom called to tell me that Dan had wiggled his toes on his right foot. My sister said the doctor was amazed and excited!

Please also keep Candi, Nicole and Dani in your thoughts and prayers as they face these challenging months ahead.

Love,

Janet and Jim Hadley
