Whitney Hope - Dan's Update

Wednesday was an exciting and busy day for Dan. The vest that holds the “halo” in place was placed on Dan today. This will allow him to be in a regular hospital bed and get into a wheelchair. The vest is tight and is hard for Dan to get used to. They say the feeling of wearing the vest for the first few days compares to having braces put on for the first time, tight and uncomfortable.

Dan continues to increase his breathing time without the help of the ventilator. He was off the ventilator for 9 hours on Wednesday!

Thursday will be an eventful day when at 11:00 am Dan will try out the wheelchair for the first time. Dan will power the wheelchair with his chin until he gains more strength in his hands. If only there were a gas pedal...
